Today's (Sunday, August 15) parish-wide work party was productive as the shed was emptied of all supply tubs and the inventory of the tubs verified. These are the dates of our next two parish-wide meetings and the goal of each meeting:

  1. Parish-wide work party #2: Sunday, August 22
Immediate goal: Cleaning: tubs, pretzel warmers, stove, small freezer chests, refrigerators, gathering pots and pans

  2. Parish-wide work party #3: Sunday, August 29
Immediate goal: Work crew assignments begin and handed out; work crew team "training" and review of responsibilities and assignments

You might be thinking:How Can I Help?”

  • Set aside the weekend of September 10-12, from Friday through Sunday. We will need men to help load the trucks and transport materiel to the site and set it up, workers for the on-site crews from Saturday through Sunday, and tear-down crews Sunday night.
  • Sponsor food! Donations of money to purchase whole amounts of food for the fair can help the parish realize anywhere from a 500% to a 1,000% return. Here are some sponsorships each parish family is asked to consider donating towards:
    • 1 box of pierogies: $25 or $350 for the entire order
    • 10 lbs of kielbasa: $30 or $450 for the entire order
    • 1 box of pretzels: $15 for 1, or $75 for the entire order of 5 boxes
    • Ice Cream tubs: 1 tub for $20; $100 for 5. The Root Beer Floats are one of the most profitable things we sell at the Longwood Fair and we will again be using fresh home-made ice cream from John’s Ice Cream Cottage in Mastic.
    • 12-packs of MUG root beer: and ONLY MUG root beer! We need at least 20 12-packs
    • Trays of sausage and peppers: Talk to Patrick Asendorf if you can make a tray
    • Baked goods: If you can make any sort of baked goods – banana bread, zucchini bread, pumpkin bread, cookies and any style pastries, please speak to Evelyn Bonanno
    • Freezer chests: we need freezer chests (coolers) for drinks and supplies. Can you bring one to load the parish during the fair?
    • Seed money: General monetary donations go a LONG way towards purchasing paper goods and cooking supplies

Please remember: The Longwood Fair has been our biggest fund-raiser for over ten years now! Let's work together to make this our most successful effort yet!
